Brend Hotels have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely from several perspectives. As a family business with 11 hotels in the group, care for their guests concerns for their many staff and also sustainability of the future business have all been paramount. Their statement issued yesterday demonstrates their deep commitment both to their business and the communities they serve.

Coronavirus Updated Statement - 20th March 2020
Dear Guest,
We at Brend Hotels have taken the decision to temporarily close our hotel from 21st March at 12 pm for a minimum of 4 weeks. We will be in touch with you regarding your upcoming reservation, please bear with us during this difficult time.
The decision has been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of our staff, guests and local community. We do not wish to put any extra strain on our own staff or increase the likelihood of the spread of coronavirus to our community, further putting strain on our NHS and supporting services.
After consulting with our local Member of Parliament, two of our hotels, The Barnstaple Hotel and The Devon Hotel, will remain open for key workers and NHS staff during these unprecedented times where social distancing will be upheld. Should there be more of a demand, we will review this to further assist those doing such a fantastic job for our country at this vital time.
We will continue to monitor the situation as it develops - please check our website for the latest updates.
Your Booking
Rest assured, we have a small team here to assist those who wish to make a reservation for the future or who have a particular query. For those who have an up and coming booking, you will be contacted direct.
We would kindly ask that you’ll wait to hear from us regarding your booking. As you can appreciate, we are experiencing a high number of calls and emails and of course we need to prioritise the immediate breaks coming up.
We look forward to welcoming you to the hotel in the near future and thank you for your ongoing support and patience during this difficult time.
Kind Regards,
The Brend Family
Working together
We are so proud to see a leading North Devon family firm leading the way in collaborative working with our MP, the NHS and local resources such as North Devon Foodbank to ensure they are supporting the communities in which they live and work.
Matthew Brend was quick to thank North Devon MP Selaine Saxby, with previous MP Peter Heaton-Jones & David Hoare on twitter yesterday, and to say a thank you to staff for helping them to get 5 carloads of donations to Northern Devon Foodbank today.
